'Psychameleon Transcendence 5.0" Acrylic Painting on Canvas available now at my store.
Psychameleon Transcendence 5.0 uses the wheel yoga pose to convey the image of a rainbow. While making these images, the idea is often to see how unusual the body can look when made out of dripping paint. This allows the eye to follow paint drips to see parts of the body through the negative space that you might otherwise ignore when seeing the same image in a realistic depiction. The shapes made by the body actually overtake the image and the arcing/rainbow-like shape is what becomes apparent, more so than the image of a woman doing yoga. The balance of abstraction and figurative imagery is, to me, reflective of the balance of exercise and meditative aspects of yoga.
Check out some more close-ups of the painting as well as a time-lapse making of video!
